CatchUP: Legend of the Wedding Cake

Once there was a beautiful wedding cake that a very happy couple enjoyed on their wedding day (8.25.09).  As is the tradition, the couple was sure to save the top layer, pack it away carefully and stick it in the freezer for 1 year from that day...
The bride's father drove her car all the way from Utah to Georgia 8 months later and hand carried the frozen cake back with him where it was placed in the family freezer...
Alas, the 1 year anniversary of the cake's debut came and went as the couple was living temporarily in South Florida.
A month after the anniversary the couple moved into the family home in Georgia for a few months and quickly got busy playing and forgot about the cake.

Two days before the couple's scheduled departure from Georgia, the cake was finally fished out of the family freezer and put to ceremonial good use.

Happy 1 year 4 months to us!

Cheers!  The end.

CatchUP: The last weeks of Georgia

We hockeyed - Avs vs Thrashers

We decorated
We darted
We Christmas tree-ed
We ornamented
We frolicked in a brief freak snow storm
We Blitzened
We boxed...
...and packed
We baked
And we Christmased!

We got to spend almost 3 months in Georgia with Tyler and my parents...how lucky are we?!  We did so many fun things together.  We feel so blessed to know that we have family that is always there for us and SO thankful to them for letting us crash there for so long.  We miss them and the good old South!

Wind CHILLS

What is wrong with this picture? And what is also very right?

Wrong: It was WAYY colder here in Atlanta than Denver today...even snowed.
Right: It was WAYY colder here in Atlanta than Denver today. Maybe there is hope for my ever-cold bones.

What a Trooper

Tonight we sent Chris out to brave the cold and rain to hunt Harry Potter 6 for us. What a trooper.
Then they didn't have it at Walmart (I know right). What a trooper.
Then he called me as he left the electronics and walked outside...
...seriously like 5ish minutes later he exclaims that he has no idea where he parked and he's been aimlessly wandering the parking lot (its raining remember?) Adorable. What a trooper.
Next was Target where he finally found the movie, just marked down to half off.

I love that boy. Good thing he will be welcomed home to some fresh oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. What a trooper.

Intermission

You may think that "intermission" is a short twenty to thirty minute break between some kind of show or event. It usually gives you a chance to regroup, stretch your legs and get ready for the next act. Not so in the Bernal household. We're all for the stretching your legs and regrouping thing. But no shot on this whole 20 to 30 minute deal. We believe in extended intermission.

Row 1: Last day in Florida! Hit up Seaworld on the way out of town. Chris made me go on the roller coasters...I LOVED IT!
Row2: Turner Field for a Marlins-Braves game. We cheered for the Marlins. They lost but we got to sit  in the owner's seats!
Row 3: Spending a lot of time in downtown Roswell, one of my favorite little areas. We ate at Fickle Pickle! Simply the best.
Row 4: Birthday! Celebrated 23 with a cookie cake, visit to Stone Mountain and yummy greek food.
Row 5: Back in downtown Roswell to visit an old Southern Plantation.
Row 6: Birthday dinner number 2 at Two Urban Licks downtown. SO GOOD.
Row 7 & 8: Day in Alabama. Temple in the morning and state fair in the afternoon. Chris dunked the clown, mom won a pink pig and I got to ride the ferris wheel. Caught a bit of Blake Shelton before heading back to GA.
Row 9: Back at Turner Field for a Giants-Braves game. Giants won!! Bobby Cox's last game. Sweet seats.

If you haven't figured it out, Chris and I are currently enjoying a fun and relaxing respite in home sweet Georgia. It has been so awesome to spend time with family and we have done so many fun and crazy things. We HAVE been getting closer to figuring out the next step and should most likely know really soon what that next step is! Just a couple of more interviews to go. Fingers still crossed!
