Hook 'Em Horns!

***UPDATE: Chris got an email letting us know that he was selected for a pretty hefty merit scholarship! Did I already say he was awesome and I'm so proud of him? Because he is and I am:)***

Time to brag on my amazing husband - Chris was accepted to the University of Texas MBA Program this week! We are so beyond excited and I am so so proud of him and how hard he worked to get in. We know this is the right thing for our family at this time and couldn't be more grateful that everything has worked out the way that it has.
We took this picture back in November of 2011 down in Belize. A trip down to the Lone Star State for a few years of grad school was always something we talked and dreamed about.
We celebrated with Longhorn sugar cookies, lots of hook 'em signs and some delicious homemade healthy BBQ.
So this means we will be moving to Austin, Texas sometime this summer! We are both really bummed to be leaving the Denver area and mostly all of our awesome friends but are planning on living it up Colorado style until we pack up and head south. Chris served his mission in the San Antonio, Texas area so he is familiar with the region and has a deep love for Texas and the school. I love the south and am always up for a new adventure! Woohoo! Texas forever ya'll.

Three Months

Well I'm behind again! That didn't take long. I guess it's because I have such a cute little bug to keep me busy! Jackson turned three months old on the first of April. Being a mom is rad. That's all I have to say about that.

At Three Months Jax:
Love love loves sucking on his hands
Loves kicking his feet and listening to music with momma
Really enjoys exercising and having fun in his play gym
Smiles all the time
Talks to us and tries to mimic the sounds we make
Reaches for our faces
Is fascinated by sports on the TV (like father like son!)
Sleeps in his cradle
Loves to cuddle
Is rocking 0-3 month clothes like a champ with the occasional 3 month
Wears size 2 diapers

Over the Weekend

Soooooo I know it is now WEDNESDAY but I have to have to blog about our weekend because it was one of the great ones. We hosted a "wild" party (or at least the neighbors beneath us thought so...whoops!), went on several walks, took in amazing messages from our church's leaders during General Conference, ate yummy food, kissed yummy baby cheeks, ran fun errands and caught up on some much needed sleep. Three cheers for the weekend!
We started the weekend off right with a lunch date at Pho 888, one of Chris's favorite spots. I had never been or had Pho and I am a major fan! Where has such a warm and yummy bowl of goodness been alllll winter??
On Saturday we ran out between sessions of General Conference to take advantage of the beautiful weather and walk down the street and grab some frozen yogurt from one of our favorite places. Have you seen the dividers some places have now?? Holy best idea ever! Perfect for sharing.
After conference we ran some fun errands and visited one of our Saturday standards - the golf store. I'm a pretty good putter and Chris is a pretty good teacher. As it turns out, Jax is a pretty good watcher.
On Saturday night we decided to try the unthinkable and put Jackson down to sleep in his crib. Up until now this kid has loved lounging in his bouncer to sleep with the occasional stint in the cradle so I was not holding my breath for a successful evening. He did great! He slept in the crib all night and was the happiest little camper Sunday morning. Woohoo! Sorry for the crappy photo but I had to have proof. Now to just get him to sleep through the night...
Sunday we hit the sidewalk again between sessions for another beautiful family walk. Colorado is so pretty, we love it.

Having so much fun is exhausting:)

Easter

On Easter weekend we packed our little family into the car and headed to see Chris's parents in Grand Junction on our first family roadtrip!
Driving over the mountains was a fun adventure including frantically and hilariously searching for a McDonalds with Wi-Fi in Glenwood Springs so that Chris could participate in a fantasy baseball draft...that boy:) Why not, right? Jax was a trooper.
Chillin' with the grandparents. Even Tiffany's mom, Susan, came over for a little bit.
Easter morning we were stranded without the keys to our car while Chris's parents went on to church...so we had to jack Jim's company truck. Climbing in and out of that thing in a skirt deserves to be an Olympic Sport.
The Easter Bunny was very good to Mr. Jackson.
It was really fun to go out to Bernal Farms and see all of the grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles!
Jax loved watching his first baseball game and having fun playtime with Grandma and Grandpa.
I love Easter! I love the chance that we have to celebrate and remember the Savior's sacrifice and resurrection. We had such a fun time with Chris's parents and it was great to give them some quality time with their grandson.
I also love the kickoff of Spring even though as I type this, snow is filling up my window outside. "Colorado Spring"...not a fan. Haha Everything is new, everything is fresh and we're headed for summer! Can't wait!

A Grandma Visit

After the blessing, my mom was able to stay for the week and hang out with Jax and I. It was so so fun to have her here and she was the biggest help (of course:). Thanks for such a fun week Grandma Mimi! We love you!
Grocery shopping, trips to the mall and outlets, crafting in the nursery (I'll post more pics later!), hanging out at home, setting up impossible baby toys and watching college basketball.

Jackson's Blessing

On the first weekend of March, our sweet baby boy was blessed by Chris. What an amazing and proud experience for me as a wife and mother to these two special boys. I love that we give our babies names and blessings in our church, it makes for such a unique and spiritual occasion.

We were extremely blessed to have so much family here for the blessing as well - parents, grandparents, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. It was a party, believe me.

Blessing weekend also included some great food, Jax's first shots (so sad!), a fun and delicious open house, lots and lots of laughs, baby kisses and a quick trip down to Colorado Springs.
I am so thankful for all that I have been blessed with and the amazing, supportive and loving family I come from, married into and am creating for myself. I am endlessly grateful for a strong and dedicated husband who worthily holds the priesthood in our home and was able to give our tiny baby a beautiful blessing full of remarkable promises. Life is so good:)
