Last Weekend in New York

As mentioned before, I have the coolest dad ever. And he was awesome enough to stay in NY for my last weekend! We had a blast!

Friday night:

Delish pepperoni pizza and cheeses with condiments like apricots in mustard oil, brandied cherries and honey with black truffle (YUM) at Otto Pizzeria, none other than Iron Chef Mario Batali's restaurant.

After dinner stroll through Washington Square Park and down some charming streets in the village

Fabulous rice pudding from Rice to Riches (I had double milk chocolate with carmel sauce, Dad had rocky road with whipped cream.

Saturday:

Oh. My. Gosh. Everyone should eat the quiche Lorraine from Bouchon Bakery in Columbus Circle. It was SO GOOD. We polished off a slice each at the bakery's charming cafe in the Time Warner Center. The quiche was very appropriately featured on Food Network's Best Thing I Ever Ate. Like heaven on a plate.
Afternoon temple session at the Manhattan Temple! So unique and gorgeous.

Addams Family musical. Seriously so so funny. Nathan Lane stars as Gomez with Bebe Neuwirth as Mortitia. (I finally saw a celeb in NY! haha) After the show we hung around the stage door for autographs (something everyone should do at least once when they go to a show). It was madness, but we were in the front and got almost everybody!

Finished off the night with an almost midnight dinner at Junior's. This place is fabulous and right in the heart of the theatre district. Excellent diner-ish food and the best cheesecake EVER. We had the chocolate mousse cheesecake.

I still can't believe how well things worked out to be able to live with my Dad for the time I spent in New York. We had so much fun just hanging out and exploring. I feel so lucky to have been able to have such special time just the two of us:). Love you Dad!

P.S. Yes, I will be hitting the gym this week haha

New York Minute

My internship at L'Oreal is over! I can't even believe how fast it went. It seriously flew! The experience was SO amazing. I loved every second. I learned so much about myself, marketing, brand management and A LOT about hair haha. I had the opportunity to work with and meet some truly amazing people who I will always remember. I miss it already!

The last week of work we had a big closing event with the intern program. We went bowling at Chelsea Piers and it was so fun (even though I sucked).

I was so incredibly lucky to have this summer experience. Thanks everyone (esp Chris) for being so supportive and excited for me. I can't wait for more great things to come!

Ryan and Tiffany's Wedding Weekend

Chris and I had the opportunity to meet up in Utah for Ryan and Tiffany's wedding two weeks ago! The wedding was beautiful! On the day after we got to hang out in Provo for a little bit. It was SO nice to be back there. I know it sounds weird but I have really missed Provo and BYU. It feels really strange to not be going back in a couple of weeks. Provo is just such a safe and comforting place. We know our way around there and have friends there. And we got to see a few of them! We also stopped by the bookstore to stock up on BYU gear and visited Ryan and Tiffany's new apartment to help them move some stuff in.
We felt really sad as we drove out of Happy Valley and headed to Colorado for Saturday's reception. It was so fun to visit Colorado! Chris hadn't been home for a long time. The extended family was so good to see and the reception was gorgeous.
We are so excited for Ryan and Tiffany and just wish we were still in Provo to hang out!

bro on a mission

This is my cute little brother. He is an amazing missionary.
I just had to share a very "Justin" part of his letter from this week:
"While on splits we did, however, have the opportunity to go to this members house for lunch. They are Hispanic and we had...tongue tacos! (beef tongue) haha yep I ate La Lengua and Dad, I could barely eat it -- not cuz it was bad at all, it was actually really good and tender and tasty with the tortillas and the lime juice and the crema and all but no, it was because all I could think of was Dad saying (I swear he's said this before) "Tongue is the only food that while you're tasting it, it's tasting you back!" haha but I managed cuz it WAS good and yeah, that was different than the norm for me."
Maybe this is only funny to me....I don't know. He's the best and I miss him!!
Check out the blog I'm doing for him here.

In other news:
I had my last day of work today!!
So that means I will be back to blogging STAT. Lots to say and tell!
(I've been writing them all in my head:)

Dear Future Children,

Your mom rocked today.

Today was just a fabulous day. Nailed my intern presentation in the executive boardroom at L'Oreal. The boardroom with the perfect view of the Empire State building. Fell a little bit more in love with this amazing city that I will be so sad to leave in two weeks. Got my hair cut and colored for free (thank you test salon). Upgraded to first class on my long flight to SLC on Wednesday. Holla! Finally a long flight upgrade! One day closer to seeing the hubs:)

Great. Day.
